Knee Pain
knee Pain can come in various forms and can be in any area of the knee. There are multiple causes of knee pain. Common areas and causes are;
- The front of the knee around the Patella (Knee cap) area. This is common amongst all ages and activities of people. Sometimes wear and tear underneath the knee cap causes inflammation in that area as it rubs on the surface of the femur when we walk. Poor mechanics can make this rub more and in some people going up and down stairs is a real problem.
- Pain on the inside of the knee. The ligaments on the sides of our knees help stabilise the joint. However, again if we have poor mechanics it can cause strain in certain areas meaning more wear and tear on those areas.
The way our feet function and the way we walk depending on muscle function and range of motion can cause these two common issues. There are simple things you can do to help and it often helps to stretch you
calfs
and hamstrings for this condition. Always wear supportive footwear also.
